Possibly the most extreme transformation for a Firebird.
Spent the last 2 years saving pennies.. finally done with the exterior.. MIGHT get a ws6 hood.. but I kind of like the "sleek beak"
car in 2007 with 140K miles stock 3.8L <-- yes it was born a FIREBIRD
now: car sits with 160k on body 65k on the LS1 <-- yes, an LS1 swap

bought this for $1000 with a blown 3.8 in 07'
put a 3.8l with 102k on it, blew up a year after I started driving it. and I'v always loved my dads procharged trans am. so we decided to put a LS1 instead of another 3.8l.
plus I pay $130 a month full coverage for insurance.. A trans am would of ran me in the $270/month range full coverage for a 17 year old with a speeding ticket.

i know if It was totaled I would only get the insurance for a 3.8l but the chances of that are slim..
and If i did total it, the $120/month for insurance iv been saving from a 5.7 would even out the cost..
my friend has a 2001 mustang that he did a 3.8 -> 4.6 swap and he told his insurance about it and they just marked it down as a performance modification and his insurance didn't raise.

car has never had a loan out.. i was raised if you want something than you work for it and pay for it, no borrowing money bullshit.

But anyway...the reason I asked about the insurance is why not carry just liability if you dont have to carry full coverage? Like you said the chances of a total loss are slim...so why not save some money and just carry liability?

Finacing something isnt bullshit...did you parents pay cash for their house?

There is a huge difference in financing a house and a car eventhough I don't see why OP is hung up on financing a car. It's not a bad thing, but a house is an investment/asset, not a liability like a car.
