THIS SUCKS!!! (long)
Of course being a new car owner I panicked, seems I've got 0 expertise in any bad situation involving a car save for getting in an accident. I call my dad to tell him about it, also the the slight damage around the house, (chipped doors, walls, etc. from more flying shingles) he tells me relax, wash the area and I'll help you wax it when I get home.
So I do just that, surprise only about 95% of the chunk of tar came off and the scratches, well AARRRGGHH. BTW, I was using Turtle Spray on Wash and a lot of elbow grease.
When my dad came home, he was all "We can buff that out." He used a wax called "The Rejuvnator" by Malco. It is now a nice polished SCRATCH.
Seriously though, it's not as bad as before, you can only see the scratches (approx 6-8inches long) only from an angle up close. The tar is now 98% removed.

Has this happened to anyone or do you have a suggestion as to what I can try? I'm already thinking the hood is toast, maybe I'm overreacting?

I WISH I COULD PUT MY CAR IN THE GARAGE. I live with my family, and like most people, garage has become another storage room. We've got another refridgerator, plus my dad built cabinets and closest all around. Long story short, no car has been parked in our garage since 1994. All together we've got my '01 Camaro SS, my brother's '03 Mazada 6 Sport (which has driver side damage, door, mirror, sideskirt), my dad's now but formerly my '96 Mustang GT, and my sister's '98 Nissan Ultima.
I'm gonna go to Checker's and look up the claybar, but right now I'm gonna call my insurance company.
Any more help you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated. Also, I can take a pic, but I don't know how to post it if you guys wanna see and comment on what I can do.

lol sorry for the rant fellas
Good News: Won't raise premiums, or change my service or coverage in anyway. Total Damage=$737.87. While going over the car with the Adjuster, we found more scratches (cringe) and even my Driver Side window is chipped. BUT, it can all be repaired.
Bad News: I'm familar with all the body shops around the island, I'm afraid the paint won't match or will be very noticable. Navy Blue Metallic isn't exactly a common color to my understanding. Also, my deductible is $500, which I don't have lying around due to joblessness.
(Sigh), at least it can be fixed, just might be awhile. Thanx for the support people,
THAT'S WHAT THEY TELL YOU NOW . . . . Insurance Co's will get out of your hide any moneys they spend over $400 to fix your car . . . Thiefs!
