Its a good idea to bolt it down bare first, then inspect it and see if it needs any slight bump in height in any one area.
Like you mentioned, some people will need it and some will not. There is a slight variance in size when the fiberglass curers. If you have any problems contact them right away. There customer service is A+. My first one was a dud, but the second one they sent me free of charge was great.
BTW, dont cut holes for the center supports!! Just leave them be. They are fine without being bolted down.
Oh yeah, and the zip ties and plastic things... I have no clue what they are for!! I have a bunch of screws and washers left over as well. lol

Needs to be painted, I just set it on to test fit real quick.
Removal of the stock spoiler is kind of a pain.
You have to pull the plastic at the back end of the hatch down while the hatch is open, kinda feels like you're going to break it at first so just be careful.
