Default Nite Shades Black out: Worth getting the LED 3rd?

I am going to blackout my 3rd tail. Will it still be worth getting the LED tail light?

to me thats all in what you want but my vote would be get it then try it out and if you dont like it then swap back but try it without the nite shade then try it with and so forth cause even if you dont like it with the night shade you can always water sand that stuff off

I totally agree with what you are saying. My problem is that I haven't seen the LEDs in person. I suppose I am mostly wondering if the LEDs will look any different from the stock if they are blackened.

yes, they will look different, they will look like LED's

stock= large rectangular light, LED= several dots of light.

just boils down to personal preference. personally i'd spend the 30 elsewhere. you're blacking them out either way, so compared to stock, you will literally, only get the appearance of them at night, by those driving behind you... not worth it for me

i voted to just black out the stocker piece, and call it a day

I went through the same thing.

I VHT'd the OEM 3rd brake light and no matter what I did the VHT would crack and look like ****. The side markers were fine but the 3rd BL was giving me trouble. I asked around and its a common issue.

So I bought the dark LED brake light and put it in and didnt like the way it looked over all (the LED's looked ok but the housing didnt look good). I VHT'd the housind and it looks fine.

I'll have to get some close up pics for you later.

Sorry this took a while but here are some day time close ups.

I'll have to get some of it lit up at night. Sorry dont have any before VHTing it.

Also note the top looks great but I have to redo the bottom part. It dulled and got a little messed up from putting it on a paper towel when it was still tacky. Oops! But you get the idea.

They do look good. Thank you for posting the pictures. I think that for now I will VHT my stock lens and see if it holds. If not, I'll go that route. Nice car by the way!

i actually bought TWO sets of those led 3rds.. company sent me convertible/'bird lights both times.

They had black housings, and the quality was such that it wouldnt NEED to be shaded, but i still would have (had they fit) just to make sure it matched
