This is a Canadian car (the dealer is in Montreal) and the speedometers in these are in kilometers. This is a 300 kilometer per hour speedo which equates to 187.5 mph.
Look at the door tag at http://www.autodorval.com/corvette/My_Pictures0020.jpg.
It shows the car was build for Canadian use.
Also notice how much brighter the M in MPH is compared to the rest of the dash lights.

Good new is you could change the bulbs to have them light up in red (like the stock TAs do). I know that some people replaced the bulbs and tried working on it here and there but i dont know how they came out.
Maybe someone can ask granettli to see if they made correct replacement gauges for Trans Ams that do light up in red just like the stock TAs ?

my roomate has a 98 vette with the same thing
it actually can switch between MPH and KPH.
the 300 is KPH so MPH is still around 150.
you can see the greenish blue light in the pic, that indicates what mode you are in.
