Default Black alcantara, black perforated leather, red chain stitch, custom wheel, pics

My next project in a week or two, (I've been sitting on this wheel for about 1 1/2 years nitpicking other parts of my interior) time to move forward. 96 OEM steering wheel with a color change from charcoal to black. I had the wheel done in two tone, black alcantara, black perforated leather, red stitch (or you could say french seam), red alcantara 12' o clock center, and double padded the steering ring to give it a much better feel for grip. This custom work is absolutely amazing! I can't wait too install this wheel it will really start to tie my interior together. Well here are some pics.

PS: If anyone has any good links for the proper removal of the steering wheel and especially the AIRBAG. I would appreciate any insight to make the job easy.

Teaser pics:

Believe me this has been on my list for a long time (mostly because I knew it would be expensive), but after having it done I wish it was one of the first mods on my list.

Airbag will unbolt and come out the front no problem.

You will need a steering wheel puller. You can rent one from Advanced/Autozone whatever.

Also, looks amazing. Who did the work?

xRelapse13 & Funkster, There not a sponsor so PM for details.

Funkster, I'm trying to find additional info on disarming the AIRBAG properly. I'm a little nervous to do it. I just want to make sure I follow the procedure for the disarming of the system. Thanks for the info on the steering puller. I was wondering if I could just rent this item.

Thanks for the comps on the steering wheel

Looks freakin killer

I always , disconnected the battery 1st , pulled the airbag fuse second . Then its cool to remove . Once you get the bag and wheel back on , re-install the airbag fuse , then re-connect the battery . There wont be anything to reset computer wise , itll be good to go after install .

FWIW , autozone rents the puller for a $40 deposit you get back when u return the puller .

That is on my list of things to do as well. I love the OEM wheel's radio controls and don't want to give those up going to another wheel.

BlueBird346,
I've got some of the other components already done. Both A-pillars, center console, ashtray lid, shift boot, and some other items that I'm finishing up soon. Done some carbon fiber on different parts of the interior and now the steering wheel is going to really tie the other pieces together. I've also done all of my interior lighting, gauges, and all the exterior lighting is all LED. There is not a single incandescent light left in the car The triple gauge pod came out really good with all the custom work I had done.

Do it, you won't regret it. This steering wheel feels really nice with the double padding.
