Default Lt1 hids

So I have read several articles about how to put hids into the 93-97 camaros. Alot of them say that you can just pry the bulbs out and replace them with new bulbs from autozone. This is the method im gonna try (i know its not the "correct way") But my question is, if im just swapping the bulbs, do i have to do any rewiring or get new ballasts?? The stock low beams are 65 watts and so are the new bulbs to put in. But I have heard of people saying it will fry your wiring. I bought an extra set of low beams of craigslist just in case i mess it up I will still be able to drive.

ive done it a couple times on my 94. Break the seal of the bulb from the housing and RTV the new bulb in. Ive used silverstars which are that bad. Then i went and got a 5k HID kit. No rewiring was needed on either one. The kit was plug and play.

theres a thread around here somewhere with a guy taking a chevy pickup headlights and mounting them in proplerly. It lood real good because it was still rectangle and had the low beams on the inside and the HI's on the outside. It was all one piece, you could just make out which bulb was which. It looked great.

based on what they are saying you can fit a silverstar bulb replacment into the housing, or go with a HID style bulb that fits into the same type housing that a silverstar 9006 would fit into.

I think that is the right # on the bulb.

So if I understand correctly... the silverstar bulbs are not technically hids?? They are just replacement bulbs??

Correct Silverstars are NOT HIDs . To get a nice set of HIDs get them from here....

Get the 55 Watt style , 6000K , 9006 bulb style . The HID bulbs mount in the
headlight housings just like the Silverstars do .

I did 55 watts for both kits . The LT1 Camaro fog housings are metal and not plastic so they wont melt .
