Those with license plate LEDs step in plz
So I ordered two 194 LED towers from E-bay and they both arrived today.
I put one in the glove box and it was fine, fit no problem. Went to put the other in the license plate spot and its short of fitting.
What does everyone else use back here?

I just used the dremel and hollowed out the stock bulb housing and put in my LED tower which is so long that I had to make a hole in the end of it and the led sticks out of it some. not that it matters but im sure if water hits it then its gonna mess it up unless I pull it out and wrap the backside with some tape or something.

I just bought a LED board a local buddy was making so I didnt have to modify anything at all. He wired a plug on the end thats a perfect fit to the plug for a stock bulb. So I just plugged it in & attached it in the stock location with the 2 stock screws.
Never tried making a tower or single bulb work though. I have had mine installed for almost 3yrs now & works great.

My thing is that my LED tower that I put in was too long to fit into the factory spot the little case was too short. So I used the dremel and made a good sized hole in it at the end and made it so that the led would poke through the end and fit.
Im just concerned that it might get wet and fail out this way?

^my led strip lights up exactly like that^
Led strips or boards like the one above are the way to go b/c they will light up the plate more evenly than a bulb.
I think it cost me like $3 shipped on ebay

A buddy of mine had one from LED Vault and it looked clean in the night, but like 99' Cajun said it's no longer available.
Blertawho - +1, please tell me which seller you bought it from ebay. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Right now I bought one of those cheap "hyper white" replacement bulbs which does nothing for the cause.

He made the ones he posted pics of. He did a awsome job on them too. I got lucky enough to get one when he first started making them. Have never had a issue with it.

Actually, that was a pre-made board. However, I had to re-solder the leads to a single core wire so I could use 194 adapters, attach some mounts so it would screw in the factory position, and paint the things. From my understanding the boards were some industrial surplus, very stout pieces, and I'm guessing dude has since ran out because I can't find anymore doing a quick search. If you search White LED strip or White LED board I believe you can find some small pre-manufactured 12v sticks that you could stick up there. But they wont be like the one I have.

Yeah I've seen some pre-made strips which sort of look like something from street glow. Although their sealed in a plastic like casing, they dont have as much leds as the one you're using and probably dont emit as much light either.
Sucks that Brian2006, or LEDvault, went out. He had this and an LED package to replace the Dome, Map, and door leds to which ever light you wanted. I'm not exactly familiar with making LED boards and coating it with that black stuff but if anyone knows how I'd gladly paypal the money over for a replica of this license plate light.
