Unhappy 3M headlight restoration kit

So I got it today and worked on my headlights and needless to say I'm a bit disappointed in the results. I thought it was going to be crystal clear, but you can still see a haze from the sanding. Now, I think I'm going to have a local detailer re-do it for me with his method.

Is there any way to cut off the nipples on our Camaro headlights?

i think if you spray the headlights with clear coat then after it dries followed by waxing i think they will look better for ya but idk ive not tried it yet cause ive used the meguires headlight restore and theres a lil bit of haze left on em and imma try the clear coat and wax

You need a compound and a wool buffing pad, to get out the sanding marks. Remember, you start harsh and work down to smooth in the sanding process, the wool pad and compound gets it perfect. Heck after the wool pad you can step down the pad and chemical to get really crazy.

Yeah, wet sand those suckers pretty well then hit them with a few coats of clear. They will turn out great.

Idk about hitting it with the clear but I would get about four steps in wet dry paper and hit it real good but not until after I sanded the nips off. start with about a 600 grit and work your way up to a 1200 then wax and should be as good as the day they came off the showroom floor!

Does anyone know where I can buy 2500 grit wet/dry sand paper? I looked at AutoZone, Kragen, & Home Depot.

I get mine at Ace Hardware in single sheets.
Even 2000 should be sufficient for what you're doing.

What 'machine/tool' are you using to do the polishing?

^that. which is why i ended up getting a new set of lights for their lenses. results from doing it by hand aren't worth the trouble, especially depending on how bad your lights are.

i used the head light restoration kit from this site www.detailsupplyonline.com
and i couldnt be happier its the same guy that sells blingmaster which is also a awsome product... i took the nipples off of my lights but messed it up cause i used the wrong bit on my dremel so make sure u use a cut off wheel and then sand the rest down to get a smooth appearance do not use a sanding wheel its what i used and it made deep marks in plastic that couldnt be sanded out and for the compound use a electric drill i noticed the battery powered drills just cant go fast enough to get the ultimate shine that a electric drill can... i also removed the weather stripping and reaplied it with epoxy glue when i was done...... n e ways heres the pix

sanded:

My restoration kit was... Buying new ones lol
I tried the sanding/polish deal, forget all of that, if the ones I have now ever start to haze up couple years from now, I'll just hit up eBay for a new pair again.
