I've been thinking about trying the philips hir bulbs. From what I've read they don't really have a blue tint to them, but they are suppose to be crazy bright. You have to get a 9012 and modify it. They can be bought at John Deere, part number AH211917.

One of the plastic tabs has to be trimmed a little. Here is a diagram.

OP- was there a reason you didn't want HID's? I'm not trying to talk you in to them, but the ULTRA's and the Hella Xenon's are both the same price as XENTEC HID's from eBay. My good friend has the DDM kit and my other friend and I have the $50 eBay Xentec kit and at night they look identical. Good luck man, I just wanted you to know there was more options for HID's then just the $300+ kits out there.

Yeah, just trimming one of the three tabs that lock it into place. I've never seen these in person, but they are rated at 1875 lumens and the Silverstars are rated at 1000. Also, silverstar bulb life is around 200 hours and the philips hir is around 1400 hours.

Just remember that any bulb with a blue coating meams less light. Even silverstars. Silverstars are over rated and don't last that long. HIR bulbs are good. Other bulbs you might want to consider are philips xtreme or GE nighthawks. These will still be somewhat yellow in comparisons to HIDs.

They are about $30 a bulb. I would say looking at them, they probably look like a normal bulb, maybe a tad whiter. The silverstars would have more of an hid look because they have a blue coating.

so i dont know if it would look like an hid then? is it worth upgrading to them?
