Speed Inc. sells the HID bulbs, I think they are like 65 bucks for a pair, high beam and low beam..

I'm thinking about trying them out..

Shawn, he's already got the bulbs. Now he wants the real deal. Too bad it adds weight! Talk some sense into him.

How much weight...

I wouldn't mind having the nice bright blueish bulbs...

I wonder if the HID ones are more of a white than blue

You can find them at several places. Catz sells them or you can cheak out www.hids4less.com .They range from about 500-1000$ depending on kevlar temp. who makes them etc. I have pics posted of them on my camaro at my profile.Go to my homepage.I also have them on my prelude. I highly recommend them, they are worth the money.I wouldnt be concerned with weight it might add 2-3 pounds for the ballast.

I don't have them or anything, but I remember people bringing this up in the past... Someone found a place that has TRUE HID conversions...$800!!! Yeah, a little too much just for that. But who knows, that was a couple months back, maybe another company does it now?

No, what you are seeing are just look alike bulbs. They are the same as a normal halogen bulb except they have a bluish color coating on them.In some cases they actualy decrease lighting output. You can not compare the two.Hid systems are an entirely diffent type of lighting. They consiset of two main parts bulbs and ballast. The bulb itself has no filiment. Its actual fills up with compressed xenon gas which creates a light output that approches the intensity of sunlight(nautral light). The differance behind the wheel at night is amazing. Road signs and highway markings, reflecters seem to glow. Not to mention they draw way less current and last the life of the car.See for yourself and I bet you'll be sold. They do cost a lot but consider 2 years ago you really couldnt get them for under 1500$ or more.I highly recommend REAL hids.

I have real/true HIDs for both the low and high beams on my '98 Z28. 4 Zenon bulbs and 4 Sylvania Xenarc ballasts. Got them from www.hidkits.com. 2 years ago and no problems.
I also have the lowbeam/highbeam mod, so with all 4 HIDs on I can illuminate road markers 2 miles straight ahead, and see 1/4 mile to the sides...no kidding! Cost $1100 for everything. I got them because I do a lot of night time driving at high speeds to Las Vegas and frequent road trips thru black desert nights. What's great is it is plug and play for the Camaro.

I'm thinking of getting custom HID bulbs for my foglights. Then I'll be the brightest guy down the road. I used to be the brightest, but so many cars are getting them now and some even brighter than me with their foglight also on real HID. I even saw a simi truck with real HIDS lowbeams. When you have HIDs you know the real deal from the simulated blue bulbs.

the look alike bulbs are better than stock but you do tend to have a problem in aligning them together which kind of sucks.

Also real HIDS are so noticibly better than those bulbs that even a moron would tell a difference a mile away... er... ummm maybe not a mile away but you get the point...

Check out this post with high quality pics of a TA with the REAL HIDS and see for yourself. Scroll thru the pages for more pics that he had posted up in his replies:
