interior questions....
I have a Transam and I want to change my interior to ALL black. My interior is Taupe (the seats, carpet, doors and plastic areas) and the dash and console are dark gray. I'm re-covering my seats black and buying black carpet, but Pontiac doesn't offer black interior in the TA's, just that dark charcoal crap.
I was wondering if anyone has ever painted/dyed the plastic in their car. I've heard of it before, but who knows how good it is. I think it will look bad if I get black seats and carpet, but still have charcoal doors, plastic, and dash.
Also, will a Camaro dash fit in a Transam. I was also debating this option. The only difference in the interior that I've seen is in the hatch area. The speakers are set up different in the Camaros. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kellie

Re: interior questions....
It is possible to paint/dye the hard plastic surfaces in the car. I had it done professionally when I installed TA seats in my Camaro SS, but unfortunately it barely lasted a month before it stated to peal/scratch. I was very dissapointed, so I spent way too much money and bought all new plastic parts.
Another option, and have seen it done, is to have the peices wrapped in vinyl/leather to match the seats. would be major $$ but would look and last a long time!
Th dash should be a direct swap. Although the dash in a Camaro is not black either.

My friend has an '02 Z28 and it seems like it's black. It was at night though, maybe I thought it was darker than it is. Regardless, it seems as though the TA's interior is a very light black vs. the camaro. My fiance had a 95 Z28 and I fell in love with his interior(as for the color). It was BLACK AS HELL.

Year One has a line of products specifically designed to pain vinyl trim pieces. This includes prep treatments for removing waxes, and oils, as well as special primers.
I re-painted the interior pieces on my '69 Shelby, and they came out very nice. Good luck on your project.

Re: interior questions....
I'm doing the interior color change on my car also. I have a 98 Camaro which has the dark charcoal interior. I've already installed ebony (black) T/A seats and have bought all the plastic trim in ebony brand new from GM. I have the ebony seat belts and all I'm needing are the door panels which I will get as soon as I have a little more $$$$. I'm leaving the dark charcoal carpet and headliner - looks fine.
The dash on the 2000-up fbodies are a little darker, but I'm not gonna worry about trying to change that out.

Re: interior questions....
Kellie,
What year is your car?? the 1998 and 1999 Camaro and TA's came with an interior caolor called Graphite, a dark grey. In 2000 the greys were changed to what is named Ebony. It is not black but a extremely dark grey. May be you need to find parts out of a wrecked car and do a trans plant.

and these I don't have part numbers for:

Re: interior questions....
you could do two tone black and charcoal grey interior. my friend in his 93 1/2 supra has a custom interior with black and grey looks pretty sharp, and not ricey at all.
