^ Probe with a test light to see if it's a switched ground. I'd just see if you can grab a schematic for the BCM and trace down a light ground switch.

The 97 and prior BCMs are different?? I found this, but for a 96.

Yes it's normal. LED's don't dim, so your dimmer switch becomes useless. You know how they used to dim to off if you sat in the car long enough? Try it now, they'll shut right off without dimming.

So I have you to thank/blame for this recent purchase.
Those are the 9.5" ones I think. If you can't find them lemme know.

edit! i found it and although it looks ugly under the panel i got it working! that damn white wire was a bitch to cut and crimp connectors onto
I wish I saw this earlier today, I knew what was wrong from the last post lol. I started doing the same things as you, (at the bcm) but it became such a bitch to tap into one of the wires, so I just spliced into the same wires that go to the rear view. So much easier

so it effects the steering wheel, radio, gear shift. Those are still regular bulbs?......

You're right - for the '02s you want the WLED mini wedge base bulbs. I learned that the hard way I have two cool white WLED-xHP5 bulbs I'll sell to you if you want.

Whoops my mistake. You'll want a rigid loop one for the dome light. The map lights are 4410's.

Here's mine. I still need to get some rigid festoon bulbs for the map lights and change out some others but I'm very happy with how it turned out (until the floor gets dirtier ).

Tap into the power and ground wires that run into your rear view (pull your headliner down a little). Put a quick splice on each and run your new wire (out of the quick splice) then grab a test light and figure out which is the power/ground.
