Default DDM 5000k's are a bit yellow...

I put these in about a month ago and they're a bit more yellow than I expected. They look fine on first fire-up, but once they warm up they seem a bit on the yellow side. Is this normal? Since these are actually cheaper than normal inky bulbs, I'm not stressing it. I was using 8000k's before, but wanted something a bit more white.

I'm looking for WHITE with a smidge of blue in them and that's what I thought 5000k's were...

I ordered 6000k's from them and got 5000k's for my fog lights. Mine do the same thing, they look great when they first start up, but after a while they just turn yellowish-white. Not a lot of yellow, but just enough so its almost difficult to tell they're HIDs. Wish I would've gone with 8000k now.

^ Yeah same here. My 8000k's were pretty much purple/blue though. I was torn between 6000k and 5000's. So I got the 5000's thinking that they should be nice and white. ...... Nope..... Damn it all. They look like halogen bulbs. The lights on my TRUCK look better than this.

And I was thinking that the K2 housings were H1, but the "bumps" on the bulbs are different and I always have to trim a hair off the side of the base to get them to fit.

I have 6K's in my lows which look pretty white , just a little bit of bluish tint in them , but they look almost much more WHİTE then blue ..

in my fogs I have 8K's which are significantly bluer , I cant really say they're white , theyre more like blue with a tint of white , light blue I guess
5000K shouldnt look yellow though , 4000-5000K is pure white as far as I know ..

I had 5000K in my silverado as well.. it was a brilliant white for sure. I remember reading once it can take some time for the color to "settle" with new bulbs, I would give DDM a call to let them know what's up to start with, and then give it some time, or see what they recommend.

Yeah. You can see the cutout. Hard to tell they're HID's, eh?

Hmmmm.. I haven't driven with them yet, so I may give it a couple months before I decide to replace them.

4500K should be about the whitest white which can be achieved, lower and you get yellow, higher and you get blue. I'm thinking it has more to do with the bulbs not being 5000K temp than the actual temp itself (if that makes sense).

The 6000k's i had from DDM had a hint of bluish color in them but shined white. I got rid of them after a bulb went out.

I now have HIDs from VVME, 5000k 35W and they shine white. No hint of blue color in them like the 6000k's from DDM.

It matters if you have a 35w or 55w ballasts. The 55w will wash out the color more giving it more of a yellowish tint.

I have 8k with the 55w ballast and there white with a hint of blue. I had 6k bulbs in there and they looked whiteish-yellow.

I just looked it up and found this post on a random forum, http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showt...l-be-surprised .

I can't help but agree on this, they did "bait and switch" me. It's just sad to see a company do something like this.

I posted that link somewhere on here a while ago, I thought the word would get around.

To the OP, I bought mine from www.hiddirectllc.com, Stephen is awesome to deal with and he will make sure you are 100% happy with your purchase.

Did you order the conversion kit (with ballasts and relay) or just the bulbs from them?
