Giving this a bumpski. Has anyone tried this yet or at least know the size difference? I found out a yard near me may have a pair of SS seats, so I'm curious as my seats are beat.

5th Gen seats are SO much bigger, you would literally have no backseat if you did manage to install them.

I think C5 seats look cooler in the Fbody, plus they fit.

We practically have no backseat as it is. Plus 5th gen seats are way more comfy than any f-body or vette seats. I'm more worried about how wide they are, in terms of fitting them in.

I can only imagine how heavy they are given that their is an airbag mounted in the front seats. As far as mounting, you better be up on you fabbing skills. The frames for the 5th gen seats do not bolt at the front, its a claw hook that goes into a slots in the floor pan, then is retained by a bolt at the rear of the frames. The distance between the seat frame rails are less on the 5th gen than the 4th gen seats also.

But...if you have a welder, know how to use it, some old 4th gen seat frames to make brackets out of or scrap steel and proper tools to make your own, it may take an afternoon of metal work on the frames to get them mounted.

In other words, theres no quick way to mount them.

Compared to a Trans Am seat, they dont look too much bigger per sey. The seat back is ALOT thicker though and thats kind of what makes the GTO seats in F-bodies look odd, the seat backs are thick as as hell compared to the pretty thin 4th gen back rests.

That pic makes it look feasible, size wise at least. I'll have to see how cheap I can get a pair of seats.

Yeah, it kinda does. I like the stock T/A seats too and would gladly put 'em in my Z28, but ebony ones are hard to find. Black leather 5th gen seats are more common and hopefully cheaper, since the airbags go pop when they wreck.

Is it true the T/A seats are more comfortable than the Camaro seats? I would like to get my hands on a set of T/A seats if this is true!

The seats in the T/A are way more comfortable than those in the Camaro's and even the C5 vettes. It was one of the deciding factors that sold me on the T/A over the Camaro at the time.

True statement right there. This applies to the 96 to 2002 seats. They changed the lower cushions in 96 and got rid of the adjustable knee bolster. The 93-95 articulating seats, in the 2 that owned anyways(93 and a 95 both new) were quite hard. The later ones are comfy.

Do you think it's possible for me to get the leather cover in my Camaro's seats replaced with Trans Am seat leather covers?

If possible, I will do this! It seems a lot of people agree the T/A seets feel better.

Nope. They are entirely different seats.

I think the "hardness" of the seat has to do with the age/condition of the leather. I test drove a '94 TA a few years ago with something like 10k miles on it, always garaged, 1 owner, ect. and the seats were as soft as can be.

I think when they get old, dried out, baked in the sun, and worn down they tend to get more uncomfortable, especially those earlier head rests!

I bought my 93 and 95 new. It was just a in comparison to the 96-02 seats, the 93-95 style to me is definately harder on the lower cushion.

Yea I hate both the ta seats and the camaro seats. I'm gonna put grand prix gxp seats in my camaro and trans am. Most comfortable stock seats I've ever sat in and I've owned 59 vehicles. Plus I like the leather with kind of a microfiber in the center.

It'll take a lot of fabricating to fit those seats in an Fbody, wont' it? Start a thread and post some pics, I'm curious to see.

I would love to get some C5 seats in my Camaro, that or the new Boss Recaro seats.

If they use the same recaro seats in the boss as in the 5.0's screw that, I sat in one of the 5.0's at an auto show and my factory cloth camaro seats with 140k miles of use are more comfortable than those things were, they were also tight on my sides and I'm 5'6" 170lbs,
