2002 camaro console mods/swaps Hey guys.
I was wondering if anybody has done a corvette/gto 04-06 /new camaro center console swap. I would love a center console that is not delicate like the 4th gens. I'm sure I am not alone in hating the 4th gen ash tray and armrest lids.

My camaro's center console lid is absolutely destroyed and since everybody wants an arm and two legs for a decent looking used one, swapping to a whole new console from another car might be a better idea...
I'd like to see whats been done already too. In the meantime I'll see if I can talk my cousin into letting me try a mock-up with his GTO's console

yeah someone should take a c6 center console, modify it to fit over the trans tunnel, and make molds w/out the arm rest ....so we can just take the mold, wrap it in suede or leather, and place the corvette arm rest over.

I hate mine. Its not fun shifting into your drink and spilling it. Something else in there would be nice. There is a thread on here of a guy redoing his console like the new camaros. I dont know how far along hes in but it was going in the right direction.
Heres where Im stuck at. I will be redesigning a new glovebox lid out of ABS as well. Then padding and recovering. No more deforming of the stock one. Theres no structure to the stocker, its super thick foam with molded rubber to make the outer shape and texture , then screwed to thin *** piece of abs . Totally re-shaped the shifter boot hole and will be making a new boot ring . Once I started getting everything lined up for the rails, I realized how crooked and wierdly shaped the stock hole was. You can tell the stocker was designed to be manufactured the cheapest way possible.
No clue when this will get finished. It will be badass when done though

The cig lighter area is changed , I dont have pics yet though. I recessed it alot more an made that whole cubby hole larger more useful. Theres enuff dead space at the front of the console to do so.

I was gonna suggest that. I think enough people are tired of the 4th gen center console, especially when all these newer cars make such efficient use of the space there, that there would a huge market for a plug and play dash.
