Default Why do some black SS cars have red emblems and others silver?

My car is a black 99 has red SS emblems but I see alot of pictures on here of black SS' with silver emblems. I would really like the silver emblems and silver stripes to be put on my car. Was there any inparticular reason for that the difference in the color emblems?

Black SS's always came with red SS emblems. If they're silver now on someone's car, its because they were switched out by the owner.

Black SS's have black SS emblems outlined in red from the factory.
All other SS's have black SS emblems outlined in silver from the factory.
Anything else you see is aftermarket.

Okay, mine has the black emblem with the red outline. Crap, I want it to look as original as possible so I guess I'm going with red stripes. Thanks for the info guys.

If you see a black SS with silver outlined SS badges then the factory badges have been removed and replaced. The only other reason a black SS could have the silver outlined SS emblems is if it is the Dale Earnhardt Sr. Intimidator SS or a black Sunoco/Mr. Chevrolet Camaro.

I do not know the reason why GM used the silver lined SS emblem on all cars except for the Black SS.

.... just contrasting colors on black (red trimmed). All other colors got silver trimmed. My "Berger" panel (from a black SS) had a red trimmed SS and I replaced them with a silver trimmed SS to match the rest of the car's SS's. I sold the red trimmed SS on Ebay.

I just looked up the red outlined SS emblem. Glad I am not in the hunt for one. Check out the price.

Are those the prices for just two S's, not six of them? What a rip.

That price is insane! If I find some factory silver ones for cheap I'll pick them up I guess.

I would def pick stainless steel SS emblems from Emblempros over black/silver any day, especially if you have a black SS.
