Default '02 SS with Eibach Pro Kit and Nitto 285/40s

Took some pics of the SS before the rain starts.
Just installed the Eibach Pro Kit and 285/40s all around.
I used to hate the 285/40s on the front because I thought it was too much tire, but now that the Pro Kit is installed, it kind of sinks 'em in a little. Looks much better, in my opinion.

Why not? They were like $15/ea. more than Nitto 275s.
Looks a lot more meatier, in my opinion. Plus, an extra 1/2" can't hurt in the traction dept.

I'm not an expert, but how would tire width affect any of that?

It's not an affect of width. It's an affect of height/diameter. A 275/40/17 is approximately 25.7" tall. A 285/40/17 is approximately 26.1" tall. It isn't a huge difference, but there is potential for issues mentioned before.

I compared these to the 275 Nittos that I pulled off. The difference in height is so minor.
I have 100% no issues with this set up and no ABS lights or ABS problems.
Speedometer is virtually unchanged. Paced my wife on the interstate at 70mph, and was dead on.

We're talking 1/2" wider 0.3" taller, people... Settle down.

Thanks a lot, man! I love the look of it now!
I also noticed a pretty considerable improvement in cornering. It feels a lot more glued to the road. I mean, I know it's lowered with wider tires now and you're probably thinking "What did you expect". But I wasn't expecting to really be able to tell much of a difference.

Very nice!!! I have 285's on all 4 too and love it. They do track the road a bit more but they also GRAB better too!

If I was keeping my car and buying another set of tires for autox I'd go 315's front AND rear
