I usually just spray the mitt out really well every time before I stick it back in my soap bucket. Is this sufficient?

How do you avoid blowing dirt back onto your cars when using a leaf blower?

Like GoFast said, it's best to blow the car off on the same surface you washed it on.

I wash mine in the garage. So the floor is wet with no dust or debris to blow around.

Of course if you're using a leaf blower on a dirt or gravel surface, that wouldn't be the best idea.

Not great... 2 bucket method would be faster, easier, and more efficient.

I use the blower to clean the wash area of dirt and debris before I start washing, then I get the whole area wet to further protect from stuff blowing around.

I've been doing it for years, and while you might get some Crazy looks from your neighbor's, it works Very well, especially for getting the water out of the small cracks. They would be things like the mirrors, the fuel door, etc.

I have a Black and Decker 230 mph blower that is corded. I've heard not to use a gas blower because it can throw contaminates on your paint.

Ok, I've looked through everything I can think of and I just cant find it. So frustrating! Even spent some vacation time looking for it. The bottom line though, some blowers route the exhaust through the blower and if yours does, you will get gas/oil on the surface. So I'd say stick to electric, much cheaper too.

When I lived at home I used an electric leaf blower all the time to dry my car. So much easier, and gets the difficult areas like the wheels, wiper cowl, door jambs, hatch, DRLs, sidemarkers, and tail lights.. Now I live in an apartment with no water spigots, so I can't wash my car there.

X2 on the ear protection.

I used to use a leaf blower, was not all that impressed. Still needed to wipe down. I have since smartened up and just use a bunch of Meguiar's Water Magnets. They make quick work.

Also no driving around time. You collect, dirt and contamination and that is not what you need to have on the paint when you want to correct or seal.

Can't use rags behind the taillights.

A properly cleaned water track in the hatch way works wonder.

2 Ways to clean the areas you cannot get with towels.

1- Shut doors/hoods/hatch firmly (Maybe a little on the hard side). Helps the car bleed out excess water.

2- Wash on a incline or use jack stands. A slight incline helps the flow of water.

** Side note, you should need to force water behind the tail light assembly. So if you follow proper washing/rinsing proceedures, you should not have much to worry about.

Top-down when rinsing a car and let the water from the top, push the rest out....

If the surface does not have a good prepped wax layer then you may need to use more absorbers but again, no need to blast behind the tail lights.

Water gets behind the tail light assembly unless you silicone the lights/filler to the body. There is no way that water cannot get behind the tail light/filler panel. That water is not going anywhere when you close the hatch. You can accept this and learn, or you can choose to stay in denial and remain confident that you can no longer learn anything new. A leaf blower doesn't get it all, but it gets a lot more than rags.

The point is that you can minimize the water and for most people its not an issue. All the other stuff you mention is just filler. I've been doing this long enough and water coming from under the tail lights down the bumper has never been an issue.

I just put the amazon link in my favorites. Looks like a great solution, and as you said is good for small opening/ect. For only $67 seems like a decent buy.

I'm a huge fan of using a leaf blower to dry my car. I think it's a black and decker electric that claims 220mph on high. I bought it a while ago, I'm pretty sure it was only $30 or so. Well worth it IMO. For the people that say it still leaves some left, just do it longer! I never have any drips at all, just take your time. I get plenty of crazy looks, but the end result is well worth it. My leaf blower has an angled tip on it so it really directs the air, maybe the ones that dont work as well dont have this feature. I'm 10000000% happy and will never use a anything else.

For those of you using the leaf blower method...any of yall have hard water at the house?

If so, how does that affect your drying?
