Default Interior Color swap

I hate my tan interior. Would it be easier to replace all the interior tan or paint the plastic parts and dye the carpets? Is that even a feasible solution? Any tips?

I wouldn't dye the carpet, it's only about $200 to replace it. You can find the plastic parts at junkyards or here on tech with people parting out cars

I'm in the middle of a color change on mine myself. You can check out my thread and see if you find any helpful information in there:

Really? Did you do the carpet too, or just the panels? Do you have pics?

Your interior looks great so far!

Why wouldn't you dye it? I think I'll try dying it first before I drop 200 bucks. (I'm a starving musician/College student lol)

Thank you!

To me, with the amount of money I'm spending on my car, $200 was really a small price to pay to have nice, NEW carpet. I honestly found some real good condition used ebony carpet for half the price, but to me it was worth the little bit of extra coin to get something that nobody has ever had their feet on but ME.....lol. Plus, to me it falls under the rule of if you're going to do something, do it right.

Now that you've explained your situation though, I can understand that. Maybe dying it is best for you. I'm curious to see how it turns out

I'll probably try it first. If it looks anything less than great, I'll drop the 200 for the new carpet. Any advice on where to find headliner?

dye the headliner, you dont have to touch it. But buy new carpet. I swapped to a stockinteriors black carpet last year. I LOVE it

I have done the swap twice, from factory LT1 tan to LT1 graphite, from LT1 graphite to LS1 ebony. Head liner can also be recovered by an interior shop.

SEM interior spray dye is bad stuff. However, it does make the fabric (like carpet and seats) a little stiff to the touch.

I swapped the interior in my Z28 from tan to ebony and it wasn't bad at all.. It was only $120 for new carpet and I had a local interior shop do the headliner for $60. Plastics were pretty cheap as well. The seats and the seatbelts were the most expensive part

Rooster99ss,is right! don't paint/dye the carpet or seats with any paint/dye. its great on panels and trim.I also did the headliner, sun visors and seat belts with good results.I do have most of the interior in ebony from a 2000 firebird and a 2001 camaro if your interested.
