Default 95 bird analog cluster to newer digital cluster

Looking to put the newer 97+ cluster in my bird that im swapping a 5.3 into. All i need to do is swap the whole BCM? does anybody have any experience with doin this? Thanks in advance. KC

If i remember right it can be done but its not an easy task. But i may be wrong.

I tried finding it, I remember reading on here of a guy who said he did it but thats all he said he said he swapped the whole BCM and harness from the headlights to tails...

It has to come from a 97 car. As they are still plug-n-play. The mileage will need to be re-flashed in the cluster as it is stored internally

It won't be plug and play. I wish i could find that old thread but the guy that did it said after it was said and done it wasn't worth it.

OK...well that's your thoughts....

I have put a 97 cluster in a 93-97 Early 4th Gen (car was a 93). Granted the motor isn't together or running, but all the base electrical works and lights up as well as odometer. Yes there are differences in the 98-02. The architecture of the 93/97 years were the same. For proof IT WILL WORK I have attatched pictures of the two model year's IPC connector for pinout purposes showing the function of each cavity is identical.(93 on top, & 97 on bottom) IT WILL WORK (I was involed in the thread as I was doing the research for it.)

I never said it couldn't work i just said its not plug and play.

It is plug in play! How isn't it the cluster is the same connector?! The odo needs reflashed to show correct mileage is all

A16 and A8. Those 2 pins will need to be moved around i believe.

so if i get the 97 interior harness i can do this mod with minimul effort? FYI my car is a 95 V6 that im dumping a 5.3 and 6 speed. My engine harness is a 98M6 harness im converting to use a 411 PCM.
