Default Console pictures?

I read a few people have put a 6speed console top on their automatic console. Anyone with pictures? It sounds cool but would like to see a picture or two...

Here's mine, although when you put the manual console on the auto you can't get it into 2nd or 1st. I modified my shifter so I could shift into all gears, I should have taken pics when I modded it but I didn't (you need a welder to mod the shifter to work).

You could also add a shift boot to the auto console:

There's a small staple like pin on the side closest do the dash/hvac. Remove it and the **** comes right off.

I'm confused.

1fastls1ss - Why does the shifter need to be modified with a welder?

If the shifter has an issue with the 6 speed upper console 'cause it doesn't let the shifter move back far enough into 1&2, one 'd need to dremel the upper console to lengthen it?

If you used a dremel to the upper console then you would have to cut it beyond the ash tray for it to work. You need about 1.5" to move the shifter stem forward so it will not hit the back of the 6spd opening, that is where the use of a welder is needed. I had to add a 1.5" of flat steel to the front part of the shifter top where the factor stem is welded to, then re-weld the stem to the new piece of steel. This allows just enough room to allow the factory shifter to go into first gear. I don't use 1st or 2nd as I just drive in OD in my car, but I just wanted it all to function as factory. I will have to take pics and post them to make it simple to illustrate cause I also had to mod the shifter "button" mechanism to make it all work.

Hmm Interesting. Definitely do a write up on this.
I considered doing this and am looking for a 6 speed upper console.
Didn't know it was this involved.

My console will be here next week. Will take pictures of the install. I wonder if the entire shift mechanism can be moved forward an inch or so to enable you to be able to put the shifter in 2nd or 1st. I will see when it gets here.
