Default Flowmaster 80 series or Super 44

Hey im trying to decide between the flowmaster 80 series and the flowmaster super 44 mufflers

i will be putting it on a 2000 camaro z28
do any of you have any experience with either one?if so how is it?

im wanting a real aggressive sound so i am thinking a super 44 would be the right choice. would that be right?

In my opinion flowmaster is garbage. What are your future exhaust plans if any? It really depEnds. If you stay stock manifolds/y pipe i would get slp loudmouth 1.

Future reference, this is the wrong section. Post it in the external engine section

totally agree with you. flowmaster is HORRIBLE!!!!! yes its loud and aggressive (to people) but the air flow/breathings SUCKS!! i would definitely go with the slp loudmouth very nice sound and breathing. Only other one i would use is magnaflow which i have on my z28

How is this for agressive? Edelbrock stepped longtube headers, tsp ORY, dmh electric cutout, magnaflow catback. Clip has notes with cutout open and closed.

^ That might be a tad aggressive

Op, i would advise doing exhaust once and for all figure out what you will want it to be and either wait or get it all done. that being said outta the two the 40 series is more aggressive

If Flowmaster is the exhaust you wanna run then run it man, if flow is something you are worried about. You can always add a cutout to it, and idk much about Flowmaster but i think the Super44's are the more aggressive of the 2 options you suggested.

Single Chamber Flowmasters also flow pretty well by the way.

The reason I, and probably the other guy too, mentioned other exhausts was because some people just assume flowmaster is the best, and they just don't know any better. If he is set on flowmaster that's fine too.

Agree. i was going to get flowmaster till i researched them and talking to other people then i was set on borla but couldnt afford it so magnaflow is what i got.

if you do want flowmaster i would get the super 44. super40 will not sound as good as the 44.

also flowmaster has a 1yr warrenty magnaflow has 5yr+ (i think correct me if im wrong on this)

I had a Flowmaster 80 and I loved it.

Was the flow great? No.
Did it sound damn good? Yes.

I noticed zero gain by going to a hooker. My car sounds quieter but still sounds good.

Kinda off topic but I vote the single in/out Flowmaster 30-series. Deep but tame at idle, screams at wot. No drone or interior resonance whatsoever

I have the 80 series on my 99 TA and I think it sounds good and has no drone. The only negative thing about it is it's aluminum and won't last as long as stainless steel.

Everyone on here will tell you the Flowmaster 80 is garbage and that Flowmaster is a "hillbilly truck muffler" but I'd take all that with a grain of salt man. When I bought my car the only modification to it was a weld in Flow 80 and I think it sounded really good. A buddy of mine has one with lt's and ORY and cam and it still sounds fine. The only time I'd worry about a muffler "flowing" is if I was racing every weekend and needed as much flow as possible. If it's a street car just go with what you think sounds good.

Not just about flow bud. Flowmaster is just bottom of the barrel typically and you can pick it up off an autozone shelf. If the OP is going for sound only, go for it. But If I was spending money on something I'd at least buy some stainless system.

I used to have an 80, i didn't have money for anything else and got a new one with a steal of a coupon, it is much better (anything is) than the stock muffler, but soon i acquired the new wealth i needed and sold it. Idk, i do like the way flowmaster mufflers sound but will agree they don't flow the best. I doubt its enough to matter a whole lot by why leave power on the table anyways if ya dont have to..
