Default Swirl marks

Anyone have any tips on how to get swirl marks out of paint? Sort of new to the detailing stuff so I'm open to any opinions

This is what I use with an orbital buffer, not a polisher/grinder! It may take longer, but the results are better and there is no chance of "burning" your paint!

start by reading some of this thread your head will hurt with information, basically best way is to get a porter cable and some meguiars 105 and 205 and basic detail stuff.

To get rid of them, you will need a polisher and polishes. Also, once you have the swirl marks removed, you will want to have quality products to keep it from scratching. Therefore, you will want quality towels and wash mitts along with a proper wash technique

Read about 19 pages, then my head exploded.

Now I wonder if I deserve an fbody since I don't understand half that stuff, nor do I have a garage to store it in all the time, or good constant access to a place to properly wash it.

I feel like a neglectful owner now

Not recommended but in general there are people out there who can polish swirls out by had with the appropriate technique, passion, arm strength, and consistancy. The total cut is no where near a DA or rotary but does work. Just need time and dedicated space.

I wet sand with 1500 use Meguires fine cut then on to Meguires 2.0 swirl remover. I finish with a polish or carnuba wax. Looks great.

This is exactly my "system" only without the wet sand step.

As suggested...check out the ask a pro thread and do yourself a favor and join autogeek. Detailing will become addicting.

I just did this exact process on my black 02 SS. The paint on the car is amazing but there were some surface scratches and swirls. I used Chemical Guys V36 polishing compound with a Lake Country orange pad and then Chemical Guys V38 final polish with a white Lake Country pad. The results are nearly flawless

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I've never even put a coat a wax on my car, let alone tried to fix the swirls. It's hard to really get into the detailing thing when your car is a DD that sits out in the elements all day. I'd love to make it a show car but it's just not practical for everyone.

I just finished up my Black 98Z with Clay Bar then Porter Cable 7424 Lake Country Orange pad &Meguairs Ultimate Compond then Lake Country White Pad&Ultimate Polish and NXT 2.0 wax. Turned out GREAT for my first time. I was alittle hesitant at first also. It took a total of about 6 1/2 hrs to compond but thats where it counts the most. Then only about 4 hrs for polish. And the wax took no time at all the finish is so smooth wax goes on and off like butter. Good Luck.

Yeah pick yourself up an orbital. It's well worth the initial investment.
