Mine are 7:1 mix of clear/black paint. They are then wet sanders and buffed out. I don't like nightshade so i went this route. When doing it like I did, yes the lights look dark but when lit up are still bright. I went with 4 coats on mine since I was using led lights but the pic of the TA with mine has two coats for normal bulbs.

Here is a pic of mine when I was at the bodyshop and wetsanding and buff was done.

I think it would look good as long as you don't do the berger as well. I prefer either/or on camaros.

And I usually don't like blacked out tail lights, on a T/A, because I like the honeycomb look. It's one of those things that make them stand out from pretty much all other cars. But I like this one because you can still kind of see whats going on. It's got me thinking

Thank you man! I also like the honeycomb design, just toned down a little lol in day light you can see it pretty clearly still. Night time there is virtually no loss of light shining through.

You have any pics of them lit up at night because I am seriously considering adding this to my list of things to do now???

Bringing this back from the dead. I am debating on doing this to my NBM Z. This was my 01 SS that I had a body shop spray.

You should see if a body shop will mix some clear with NBM instead of black to give it a body color tint. Other wise I don't think dark cars look right with tinted tails. There's no contrast to break the rear up unless you have stainless emblems or something

That is why I haven't done it yet. I blacked out the rest of the lights except for the tails...I do plan on stainless emblems or contrasting emblems of some sort.

I'm a huge fan of tinted blacked out tails on these cars. Nothing better than all blacked out on a black or silver car. I have the covers, buffed and polished them to a paint like gloss and love em.

I agree

I went lighter on mine though, a couple coats of VHT nightshade and some clear and then wet sanded and buffed. they do look a little darker in person but you get the idea. berger will be gloss black and the spoiler will be body color (MQB) when I get the whole car repainted eventually

Why tint when you can use covers?
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...w/model/camaro

Some acetone easily removes the AVS lettering leaving a smooth, black finish. Mine looked great, fit great, stayed in place, and were still easily removable for car washes / annual inspections.

agree 100 %. I've did the night shades and still use for markers and such, but like I said above, I use covers for the tails, buff and polished them up and removes stickers, can't get a cleaner look imo, and easily removable, yet even driving the car hard, cornering, bumps, high speed, never lost one. Mine are actually 18 years old, been on 2 camaros, still shine great. Best 50 bucks spent bar none.

Thanks for the input on the covers. I have always wondered how they held up. I like that idea for the ease of removal, in case I need to.

Wow, those covers are cool. I've always done the traditional VHT route, have to try a set of these next.

The reason I don't like covers on a Camaro is because I like the look of the LT1 tails tinted with the white reverse portion not tinted. Looks awesome and the lines flow oh so well from the berger to the hatch.
