Tinted lights, especially head or tail lights, seems like an invite for a cop to pull you over. Not worth it IMO.
I have never ever ever been pulled over despite the high number of police that I have had directly behind me. I've been pulled over for a malfunctioning license plate light but never for the tinted tails. I would be pretty confident in saying everyone that does have them tinted is in the same boat as me.
The reason I don't like covers on a Camaro is because I like the look of the LT1 tails tinted with the white reverse portion not tinted. Looks awesome and the lines flow oh so well from the berger to the hatch.

these are the two reasons I didn't go with the covers. lt1 taillights ftw
Been tinting tail lights for years for people. Here is the shade I went with on my personal NBM. I spray a adhesion promoter after a degrease and sand. Base coat clear coat. Some like darker some like lighter. I like still seeing what's under
I used glossy light black vinyl on mine a few months ago, I wanted it just dark enough to hide where grid delamination started(and stopped with drain holes) but not have much impact on light output. If anything the light tinting makes the lights stand out more when it's bright outside and at night it made no difference whatsoever so I'm pleased with the results, still good after a few months and it stays outside 24/7 so I guess I did ok for my first time:
Which not sure about other states but Alabama only requires lights to be visible within 500 feet and that they be the appropriate colours. I thought about going dark black for all of five seconds, sure it'd look awesome with the car being black but being a year round daily I put visibility higher up on the priority list.
After masking off the lens and painting the grid lines black hit it with a clear mixed with just a little black 4 coats then wet sanded buffed and couldnt be happier before this they were rattle canned with vht niteshades hated it and didnt look nearly as good
You should see if a body shop will mix some clear with NBM instead of black to give it a body color tint. Other wise I don't think dark cars look right with tinted tails. There's no contrast to break the rear up unless you have stainless emblems or something
^ Looks great. I was looking at some tint film for my car but I can't afford Lamin-X's prices. How difficult was the install?
Thanks. Besides taking a bit of time and testing my patience lol, the install wasn't too bad. Just make sure to use a heat gun, it makes the film a lot easier to deal with
