Default My Polished and Painted Calipers, Pics Inside

Got bored on sunday nite so I decided to get my REALLY shoddy calipers up to snuff because my new boyd coddington shyters I bought for street use are coming tomorrow.

The amount of work to get these damn things looking reasonable was unreal..they were hacked and gouged and ridged and everything else you can think of beyond belief from the massive amount of grinding I had to do to fit my Weld Prostars on the car. I just didn't have the time or resolve to make them perfect, you will notice some marks and what not left in the aluminum.

here are two pics of one of the fronts..the rears were the REAL nightmare, I had to basically reshape the things into something resembling a caliper before i could polish them, came out nice but i didnt take pics.
the bracket is just sanded, primed, painted in high heat red, and then clearcoated in high heat clearcoat..

Should look pretty nice behind the new rims, too bad they are hidden when the drag rims are on, but those are track only now..

Don't stop there man- you can still get them shinier. Just a little more elbow grease, or power tool useage!

actually that's about as good as i can get them without going back into the surface..they look a LOT better in person..the flash on the camera was bouncing off some of the imperfections I left in the metal that were just super deep from the grinder used to make the prostars fit. i did polish them with a dremel..just did all the sanding and shaping by hand.

in person the aluminum looks just as good as anything else i've done or seen done by a pro. guess i need to try for some better pics LOL

my buddy has TT2's and if I ever have time I'm going to help him do his..I think calipers like this would look nice behind those rims.

I cant' wait to get my coddington's today and see how it all looks together

my normal polishing steps are all just by hand. i wet sand using like 7 different grits then take Mother's Billet Aluminum polish and polish it using a dremel with buff wheels and by hand.

to get the surface resembling something normal i had to use the dremel with grinding wheels and then sand rolls..then dry sanded the dremel marks out as best I could with some real rough stuff then fine stuff..THEN started the wet sanding process.

yeah, would have been MUCH easier and come out alot nicer like my stuff usually does(free of imperfections) if they weren't so impossibly dicked up from the massive grinder usage last year. Stupid weld wheels.
