Mine is just used indoors for winter storage in the garage but I know it must collect dust on it. It's a lightweight cover.

Would it be best just to take it to my local dry cleaners and have them clean it, or stuff it in the washing machine and do it that way?

I'm leaning on taking it to my cleaners (i'm guessing they might charge $25-30). If anyone had luck washing theirs in a washing machine I'd like to hear about it. And did you put it in the drier afterwards or just let it air dry?

 

I washed mine in the washer, and put in the dryer with no heat, just tumble dried

 

I washed mine in the washer, hung it outside on the cloths line to dry.

 

My indoor SS cover is large and a bit thick so I took mine to a washateria and used one of their triple/largest washing machines. Put some degreaser in the wash cycle along with regular detergent to get any oily residue off the cover (e.g., where it touches the tires). Ran it through two sessions in the washer and then put it in the dryer. Dried mine till it was almost all dry then just took it home and put it on the car. I didn't shrink or have any damage. Definitely looked cleaner. Gets the dust and bugs off and didn't risk overloading my washer at home.

 

The water when I washed mine turned green from pollen, weather or not its on the outside surface or is getting through to the paint I don't know. I did none the less feel better about putting it on the car.

 

I use those big washers at the laundromat, cleans my CalCar cover well.
