Best way to clean my engine/engine bay?
What is the best way to clean my engine and engine bay without ruining anything? I heard it is bad to just take a hose and start spraying under the hood. I dont want to mess up anything electrical. I have a 2000 V6 Camaro with a 3800 Series II V6.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

There's a thread in one of the stickys about cleaning the engine, but it might be in another section. I'll try to pull it up

I pretty much followed that. But used Purple Power cleaner/degreaser. there's a bunch of talk about Simple Green that comes up in there, I chose to just stay away from it.
-hose down engine
-spray down with degreaser (let sit 5 minutes)
-hose down again to remove cleaner and some of that top dust/dirt layer
-spray again with degreaser (let sit a few minutes)
-break out the rags and cleaning brushes, and put in some time actually cleaning everything (the best you can)
-hose down again
-do more spot/focused cleaning as you see necessary (do it right the first time, and you wont have to do much to maintain the clean look in the future)
-after final hose down/ rinsing, start drying. I bought a leaf blower to help get in the tight spots as well.
-start up the car so the heat helps get things dry. And continue with your towels to finish drying everything
I used plastic bags to cover up certain plugs and things when I did my old v6 camaro, but I forget what exactly.
Be prepared, once you start cleaning it up in there, you'll want to do more to get it looking even better... $$$$

I soak the engine in all purpose cleaner/degreaser...
Start the engine, and spray with a pressure washer...
Never had a single problem, just let it run with the hood closed after done spraying to evaporate any excess water
