Default Custom(Homemade) LT1 Fuel Rail Covers (PIC HEAVY)

I was looking for a project and I got some inspiration talking to an impala guy at the OC MD show this fall.

I decided to try making some fuel rail covers to cover up all those nasty wires and injectors. I had some scrap sheet metal aluminum laying around so I took a swing at it. So what do you guys think?

First I made some dummies with some cardboard so I can get the shape of the covers (Who would have known cardboard would break kitchen scissors)

Once I got the shape I cut them out using some tin snips and a jigsaw and used a drill to drill the holes where they would mount on top of the fuel rails.

I decided to go with some color and I used the Metalcast paint by duplicolor. The paint said to use it on polished surfaces so I polished up the covers to get them ready for the paint.

To get the bends I used some clamps and some 2x4s ( Not the best way but it worked)

I used some nylon and rubber washers underneath the bolts to not scratch the paint.
Here's some finished pics:

While your at it another simple cover to make is for the MAP sensor. You can see it in a couple of those pics. It would be quick and easy while you already have all the materials out. I chose to leave mine polished without any paint. I didn't want to be too obnoxious with the blue but that's just my opinion.

I like the idea, but they look a little cheap to me. I think if you could roll the edges and maybe even put a couple long grooves in the metal to somewhat match the intake, they would look awesome.

The only picture I could find best describing what I meant. I'm not an experienced metal worker by any means, but you could probably do it with a special anvil on an english wheel.

You can achieve this with a bead roller, they arent to expensive. I believe eastwood carrys a small one for 120ish... nice tool to have around if your doing alot of sheetmetal work.

Great Job! do you have the dimensions by any chance? I have an LT1 I am putting in my 77 stingray project. it doesn't have any covers on it.
