Default Project "$300 Firebird"

Well, a friend of mine offered his firebird to me after he crashed on a icy highway. The passenger door slammed into a tree. It was already banged up pretty good, before the accident. It looked like a demolition derby car, :puke: . I was originally planning on parting it out, but I decided to save it instead.

The first stage of parts/mods:

-Cut stock springs 2 coils front, 1.5 rear (FREE)
-Entire front end (Donated from my vert project car)
-A-arms/ball joints/spindle/wheel bearings
-Calipers/pads/rotors/rubber brake lines/hard brake lines to ABS
-Steering rack
-Shocks/springs

-C5Z wheels, gunmetal, 18x10.5, 17x9.5 (Borrowed)

-Rebuilt top end
-Gaskets ($200)
-LS7 lifters (Donated)

-New Passenger Door ($40)
-New rocker panel ($20)
-Turn signal housings ($40)
-LEDs for Fogs, Turn Sig, Interior ($100)
-Pulled seats, shampoo'd carpet and plastics

Total investment so far ~$700

BEFORE: (Kind of disturbing)

I stole it for sure. But, he just wanted it gone.

Yea, its in perfect shape, haha, no broken clips, doesn't even have the normal crack... at 180k miles. The interior is in near perfect shape, it had ghey covers on everything...

The dash pad isn't cracked at all.

Pretty sweet. Low budget builds are always cool, even if it is a v6 lol

My first build was expensive, and my next build will be even worse. So, I thought I'd see what a cheap build feels like.

Besides, after the top swap, Ill have more power than a stock LS1.

The goal for this car is just a reliable daily and looks pretty nice.

It was difficult for my to not get carried away and clean/paint/powdercoat all the parts..

My old 454 car will be getting a 6.0 LQ4 and a 78mm turbo, which will replace this as my daily, and this car will be sold.

Then I can finally get to work on my real project...

Ton of projects in the garage right now. Finally got this one on the road, and Ill be using it as my DD. The car drives great, (still needs body work)... I just got it close enough that I could get the door to close-ish

For now, I'm happy to not have to drive my wrangler on 35s everyday on the highway.

and yes, I know I need to finish cleaning off the "firebird tape", it hurts my fingers...

Also, I have a replacement fender, for both sides, when I have time to work on painting the car.
