A more modern shaped stalk would be nice, and/or a more gently locking/releasing internal mechanism...

If you yank it straight out it'll be okay. I have done it dozens of times without breaking one. But the feel of surface and actuation leave much to be desired, I was hoping there was a more modern replacement available. GM did change from shiny plastic to flat plastic in the 90's, so there was a glimmer of hope...

A switch from a Trailblazer looks and functions almost identically from the outside, but the actual inner workings are different and the switch is fairly large (probably because all the switches are in one housing, vs several smaller switches operated by various lever arms). I thought about trying to find a way to integrate it but I don't think it would fit the column.

while we are on the topic of changing stuff out. is there any single key ignition switches that could be interchanged with the stock ignition switch? i've found a few locks i can make work (minus the hatch so far) but would really like to find a way to make the whole car single key

Got my steering wheel in today. I had a custom d-shape wheel made. My airbag cover got sent to the wrong place so I'm still waiting on it. I will post some more pics when it comes in.

I guess that's a 'Jake-like' (Corvette Racing skull emblem/logo) emblem??
I like that you used mostly alcantara/suede for the center airbag cover material.

To bring this thread back to life briefly, I read over the postings but am still a bit confused as to the airbag.. Can anyone confirm if the airbag will still work or not? Interested in this mod, and retaining airbag function would be awesome
