Replacement carpet assistance
I still have the OEM factory radio setup, and have considered replacing that sometime afterwards, I mention that in case it affects the decision for the vibration deadening. Not looking for a competition setup or big bass, just decent fidelity which won't cause me to have to add a lot of weight to dampen the rattles/vibrations caused by the sound.
Goals for the replacement carpet solution:
- Matches factory gray as close as possible
- Similar pile to OEM
- Doesn't shed 'fuzzballs'
- Same exact size (goes over the rear axle like OEM)
- Driver heal pad would be nice
- Minimize NVH (noise, vibration, heat)
- Do not want to use spray adhesive for carpet install
- Minimum additional weight gain over OEM carpet for the entire solution (including any mass backing, sound deadeners, etc)
- Don't want a lot of huge PITA side effects regarding installation/fitment
To minimize NVH & weight gain, I'm not sure what a good balance would be. In the end is it better to get thin carpet and apply DynaMat, QuietRide, HushMat, etc or to get a carpet with mass backing? Or combine mass backing with one of those NVH deadeners (and then will it be too thick to easily install)?
Appreciate the feedback on the best compromises.
