Default Paint Correction or new Paint

have a 02 T/A with some paint issues. I was wondering if this paint could be fixed with some buffing or some kind of paint correction or is the clear coat too far gone. I'm in the Spring area if anyone can recommend a good detailer, thanks.

That will require a repaint.

What you are seeing in those pictures is the absence of clear-coat. Buffing/paint correction only works when there is still clear coat left on the car.

Buffing it will make it look better, but a repaint is the solution.

This T/A is a collectors edition and has some factory pin striping, would they tape that off for a respray or would it have to be replaced? Also, can anyone recommend a decent paint shop in the NorthHouston/Spring area?

I would say any reputible paint shop would remove and replace it.

They may not be able to reuse the exact pinstripe that came on it. I'm sure a OE replacement can be ordered. I just can't see any good painter not wanting to paint the whole car, which can't be done by leaving pinstriping on the car.

A good paint job ain't cheep, but would be worth it in my opinion. Lucky for me, I have an in-law that paints cars and would do it for me for the cost of paint and supplies.

Yeah a repaint is the only fix. That is clear coat failure. Polishing the area will actually speed up the process and more clear will be removed.

Is that area on the spoiler of the entire car?
