Trans and door panel technique / install

Hey folks. I am just about to attempt my install of the door panel inserts.
I have read a few threads. Some people have used plastic weld or epoxy in an attempt to reattach the plastic that must ultimately be removed / damaged in the process.
I'm looking at getting a plastic weld hot air gun (60 bucks) and start at a really low temp and use some pliers to re-mold the shape of the plastic instead of actually removing it.
Has anyone done anything similar?
anything completely different?
I'd love to know what worked for folks and what didn't.
Thanks guys.

I've read it ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
It says that you can use screws / washers. Wasn't particularly detailed in the explanation - but I think I understand how they'd be used.
I've never seen a write up on the screw technique - but I'd imagine it being self tapping screw / washers.
I'd be worried about doing that on the trans am doors given the number of plastic pegs.

On the flat tabs, use plastic epoxy or remelt them or put a small screw through them sideways. I used plastic epoxy.
The round pegs of the armrest are hollow tubes. I used screws with wide washers. If yours still have plastic "lid" to them, drill a small pilot hole.
