Just another 'CETA' mod done
-Sanded using 400 grit
-washed it off with water
-dryed/let it completely dry
-used 1/2" painters tape to edge up the border
-used 1" painters tape to cover basically whole rear end up to the doors
-used (brand) Satin Black in light coats, letting 1 min between coats per instructions on can
-ended up using 2 cans
Now, I straight f***ed up.. it started sprinkling right as I was finishing up. So I draped some more plastic over the project, and put some rocks to hold it down in kind of a tent. Well.. that didn't hold up to the wind, and blew the plastic into the paint. Came out the next morning to plastic basically glued to the paint, wrinkling the paint, peeling it off in a few spots.
Went and got some 600 and 800 grit. Wet sanded the paint with the 600 til it felt evened out, then used the 800 to smooth it out more. Used another 1/2 can of Satin Black and went over it about 4 or 5 more layers, and let it dry.
I think it still turned out pretty well, minus the spot of red paint on the left corner the tape took off. (it was bubbling at that spot anyway, so I kinda figured that was going to happen)
The before:
The after:
That spot looks a little big to use the pen and a brush with, I would look into the duplicolor color match paint in an aerosol can. It appears as though your paint is the same shade of red as mine "rally red" which is paint code WA8774. To get it done right though I would take it to a body shop so they can sand away the rest of the paint that is peeling away from that spot and blend it all in. It can be done at home with the duplicolor color match and some gloss clear but its hard to do right unless you have a polishing rotary and pads as well
