Do-it yourself Carbon fiber
About 6 months ago someone had links where to buy the fabric and the glues needed to do this yourself... I'm not thrilled with the kits out now(old RK sport woulda been nice) and I need a nice project. Does anyone have the links? They said the glue would knock a buzzard off a shitwagon hahaha I remember that but not the links
Thanks a lot guys

Not sure if it's the same website someone already knows about, but PM and I'll send you the site. I came across this the other day and thought about laying some carbon fiber down on my intake, cause I saw one that had been done and it looked great.

I'm the one who started that thread so very long ago.The site is www.fiberglast.com. That's where I got my fabric and resins. The carbon fiber/kevlar composites are beautiful.

They are talking about making actual carbon fiber parts.
I would suggest starting out with fiberglass first, and trying to make a few parts. Your not going to be able to just buy the CF and resin and make a beautiful product on your first or second try.
Fiberglass is easier to lay, easier to learn on, and cheaper to learn with. That's my oppinion anyway, spend your money how you would like.

If you just want to fabricate covers for your components, that's easy. You can just coat the part with adhesive, apply the fabric, and sea lit with the resin. If you want to fabricate replacements, you'll need to build molds and learn the joys and aches of the different release agents. I go either way depending on what I'm doing.

Anyone considering working with FRP please do yourself a favor and have a good look at the MSDS sheets that come with the assorted chemicals. Some of this stuff is VERY dangerous (MEKP for example).
