Default LED Daymaker headlights

I have had this stuck in my head for a while and been trying to see if anyone else has done this short of spending 400/piece for the custom LED lights out there. My factory lights are just terrible. I've converted away from the sealed beam to a conversion with H4. This helped a little and I was contemplating doing an HID/LED conversion with those housings but I figured why not take it one step further. I plan on converting everything else to LED so this can be one of my first.

I've been doing some research and found numerous 5.75 LED daymakers that were actually make for bike.

They are deeper than a stock 5001/5006 but still a 5.75 diameter and use the same 3 prong h4 connector.

These are significantly brighter than stock with a much better distance beam I am not sure how the width of the beam is. These were made originally for bikes that turn the beam as the bike turns so I am not sure how that beam would cover the ditches and what not.

Being that these are the same diameter and same plug my thoughts are I am going to first buy just one light and a spare light bucket to see what kind of hacking/modification it takes to make this conversion work. If it's not terrible and I can make the assemblies sit tight in the buckets I will buy 3 more and do the same thing.

Has anyone done something like this before?? How do the beams look? Has anyone else wanted to do this but just never tried???

I have a similar one on my bike, it lights everything up better than the stock bulb. The brights are brighter than hell, plus mine is dot approved or at least it says so.

I doubt those are DOT Approved/Certified.
What's the beam pattern? Others I've seen of that style had bad beam patterns.

JW Speaker and a few other companies sell 5.75 Round LED headlights. Although they are decent, they aren't as good as an HID projector setup. I don't know how good these are, but the are options. No beam pattern pics there though.

Phillips has a decent H4 LED drop-in bulb and various knock-off companies have copied it. However, some housings work well with it, some don't.

rwb: I've seen that style also but I just like the looks of the ones I showed a little better. The ones I've found are also DOT approved so that should be good to go. The biggest thing I'm worried about it that the light spread will be wide enough for a car since the lights don't move when turning like they do on a bike. Does your light have a pretty wide pattern?

The lights I am looking at have a 30 watt low beam and a 45 watt high beam which put out 2800 lumens on the low and 4000 lumens on the high. Which is a little less than the one on your bike but not too bad.

I've seen those JW lights you posted but those would turn out to be 1600 bills for headlights. Where as the ones I posted are 1/10th the price and brighter light output. There would be not bucket modification needed but I have more time that money and saving 1450 bucks is worth spending some time modding my buckets.

It's pretty good, but I haven't put a lot of time with it since it's kind of cold and wet here right now.

They are saying 50 to 60 degrees this week, with rain on Wednesday. If I didn't have the bike apart now I would be riding it. Putting new heads on along with a set of andrews cams. N4's for streetability. I started tearing it apart just a little while ago.

Actually, the 5.75" ones are half that at $840/pair or less depending on version. Unless your car needs 4 of them. Plus, I only posted them as an example of other options that are available and usually have a decent beam pattern. Still not as good as HID Projectors or even newer LED Projectors, but better than most ebay aftermarket LED headlights.
