Default Small project

I haven't been able to do anything to the car in years & finally decided to finish off the top end of the engine & upgrade the wheels, tires & brakes.

I'm still waiting on the front wheels to show up before I start everything, but since I had all the parts laying around, I figured I'd snap some pics.

I'm relocating the coil packs with the Proform brackets (similar to the Katech design) & painting the coils to match the intake.

Looks like you have the same front brakes I do, but with cross drilled rotors in black (mine are slotted with black calipers only). I found that the pads wind up sitting partially off the outer edge of the rotor when shimmed correctly. I confirmed this with Wilwood, who said this should not be an issue. This appears to result from using a caliper from a smaller rotor on several kits, including this 14" as the largest one.

Thanks guys.

Eb110, thanks for the heads up. I don't suppose you'd have a close up pic of this pad alignment, would you?

ONE SHIM:
With one shim, the pads sit correctly on the rotor swept surface, but the caliper is too close to the outer edge of the rotor.

FOUR SHIMS:
With four shims (and you may find that three works for you), the pads hang off the outer edge of the rotor at their center. However, the clearance between the rotor and caliper is now within spec.

These are the same pics Wilwood support looked at and approved with 4 shims.

Thanks for the detailed pics! I would have questioned that when building it for sure. Did you have to shim the mounting bracket more than one to get the caliper to center over the rotor?

To be honest, I don't remember anymore. I think whatever it said in the instructions was right the first time on caliper centering.
