Default Formula Door Panels -> Z28?

does anyone know if 2000 Formula door panels will fit on my 2002 Z28? Got a guy who wants to sell me them and don't want to drive all the way over there to find out they don't fit.

Thanks!

Not without some modification. If they are Ebony I'd be intersted in them.

I had found a post with pics. There is some cutting, and a small bracket to be fabbed, I know going back to stock is not an option.

u can make them fit with about 5 mins work. I have them on my camaro but I don't have any pics. When you remove your stock Z28 panels, right underneath the door handle you will see the two mounts where you current door panels fasten to. Basically it looks like two bumps. You will need to remove these to make the firebird ones fit. All the other tabs fit in place just like the Z28 one does. I included a pic of the door itself you will find the "mounts" I am talking about in the area I circled in yellow.

With the bracket removed, how does the TA door mount properly?

There is a critical mounting point needed for the Pontiac part that is not in the Camaro door. I say critical because it is under the handle that you close the door with... they say the panel will pull off/break if you do not fab support for the pull handle of the Pontiac panel.
I have seen a site on the mod... sorry I don't recall it. Someone here should.
Good luck
Dave

All I did was use the screw that goes through the door handle trim and in the pocket of the door panel their is a screw there that I just screwed through the camaro door.

Yeah its a peice of cake, fabbing peices is creating extra work. Go for it.

Thanks for the info guys - so it looks like I can do it without creating pieces (which scares me) Ok two questions:

1) these "bumps" - how are they removed?
2) to avoid fabricating a piece, I just screw the panel right to the door itself using the screw under the handle?

Yes I am an idiot. Please help - it will be rewarding, like helping a retard across the street. You will feel good about yourself

I used a grinder to cut around the mounts. It's fiberglass so you can use whatever you feel necessary to cut them out. I didn't fabricate anything just screwed them on and they fit great.

the panel will still go back on but you wont have those two fastening points. you would probably have to secure it some other way. you still have all those little tabs that are on the door panel itself and there are other ways you could secure it.

That's kinda what I was thinking...
GM cars are terrible for door pulls and door panels coming apart after a few years.
Yeah, you might be able to pull the door handle for a while without damage, but the doors are heavy and you put alot of stress on that part by using it.

so the one bracket circled in yellow is the only you have to remove to install the door everything else fits with no trimming

That is correct Buckwild. I might be off a little with the cirlcled area. but it is right around that area. You will see two mounts protruding further than any other part on the door. Just remove those mounts and slap on the Firebird panels. My doors are all cut up in an effort to remove weight so don't let them discourage you. Your doors will have plenty of material on them and will be really sturdy. All together the size of those mounts are about 2"x2" so you really aren't removing anything major.
