Default Odometer film separating

Any ideas on how to properly repair this? It appears the odometer film is delaminating.

Thankfully you can repair it. The film, called polarizing film, just peels off. You do need to be a bit tedious to not scratch the glass. Cut a new piece of polarizing film and apply. As long as its LCD polarizing film, Im not sure it matters what kind. If you dont want to go through all that and dont mind waiting on my schedule, I believe I have a few of these odometers and could send you one. Assuming your car is a 99-02, the mileage wont be affected as its stored on the class2 chip elsewhere in the cluster. Changing the odometer is pretty easy, plug and play and while you will need to remove the gauge face, you can do that without disturbing the position of the needles.

@LT4vert I finally got around to looking at this today. I accidentally purchased no-adhesive film and I'll try again tomorrow, but the old film completely flaked off. Some questions...

1) When removing the glass piece from the frame, so long as the new polarized film is up, does it matter which way the glass goes back in? Those two little rubber spacers fell out and I don't know if there's a special procedure to put all back together. does a specific long edge of the glass need to be at the top, for example.
2) When the engine was rebuilt in 2019, they thought I had an instrument cluster issue and took out the cluster. They originally forgot to put the trip odomoeter reset pin back in. I've always thought it stuck up further than it did before and/or was looser fitment. Do the attached photos look like OEM? If not, any idea where to get the proper pin?
3) Recommended solution to clean the glass the film goes on, clean finger prints off the black overlay & clean the clear plastic bezel?

Edit: As suspected, I didn't get the odometer glass oriented correctly the first time. With power and without film, all I see is a solid orange backgound without digits.

Sticks out about an inch from the bezel

About 3.5" overall length

I could have sworn that I had seen some sort of video or photos detailing how to put this thing back together correctly, just cannot find it at the moment.Pending receipt of the correct adhesive LCD film, trying to validate I know how to get the numbers showing again instead of just an orange backlight.

As it looks after the first rebuild with OEM film removed but new film not yet applied

Other side. Do the metal clips need to touch anything on the board?

One short edge has a white line on the LCD

The other side does not.

I rotated the top of the glass 180* so the white line faces the right edge, still no joy. Received the adhesive polarized film. Adhesive layer is thin (.004mm) and clear, non-adhesive layer is thick (.33mm). I was expecting the polarized layer to be adhesive? Did I buy the wrong item again?

This wasn't the video I was thinking of, but I think I had the rubber spacers oriented wrong. I'll know soon.

Based upon that video, I ordered their PFA_AD_SM:
http://polarization.com/polarshop/pr...m1g3ja0fdan2m7

the damaged film just flaked off, unless there is another layer on top? Do I need to replace film anywhere else?

I got the sassafrackin digits working again and reset my needle positions. Will have to chase it again next weekend. Remaining questions are what to clean all various parts with, do I need to replace film only on top, and is a credit card adequate to apply the new film?

Edit - see post #9 also.
I used AFlash PFA-AD linear polarizer film. I think from this site?

Jim, you should post an after pic. I'm curious how it came out.

Car is in the shop now, I will post a photo after I get it back. I didn't get the new film completely smooth but I felt the overall process was such a PITA I'll just live with it.
