Maybe Acetone. You could use brake cleaner but it needs to be non chlorinated.
Let me clarify. I'm assuming you are cleaning prior to welding in the rollbar. You should us non chlorinated brake clean prior to welding so not to have an off gassing issue.

I sprayed my 70 El Camino floor with a heavy clear coat to give the sound deadening adhesive a very clean and dry surface for best adhesion. No trouble with it from three years ago and did the same treatment to the underside of the roof.

I used Simple Green and a shop vac to get the major items. I made an alcohol-distilled water mix I also use to clean the interior windows to avoid chemical reactions with window tint (ammonia is supposed to be really bad for tint). So far I am not seeing any issues with adhesion on the sound mats I am laying down.

For the most part sound deadener adhesive is pretty good (assuming you aren't using uber cheap stuff off ebay). I've put it on pretty dirty surfaces in the past and it's stuck well. I've used everything from windex, all-purpose, alcohol, acetone.. Hell even just a wet rag. Windex is probably the cheapest option, but they all work.
