Default Eoouch!

Man first of all, sorry to hear about your car, but def glad your OK! I totalled a friends 02' Ws6 and he is going through the same thing you are right now...whether or not to fix it....

IMO, i would buy the car back from the insurance company (depending on the cost of the buyback)...but then part it out...or maybe buy a car w/no engine in it....and drop yours in it....i seem to see alot of those around just due to the fact that once the engine is gone alot of people dont have the time or the resources to get a new one.

Once the frame is bent the structure of the car isnt the same...alot of times the car wont even be deemed "street safe" and therefore would only be a track car....isnt really worth it considering how much its going to cost just to straighten out the frame, and then you get to factor in all the other repair costs especially considering the damage done to your car

Hope everything works out, whatever you decide...keep me posted on what you decide to do!!!

Get 'em down to $2500 an buy the MF back... Glad you (or more importantly, your passenger- no offense) lived through that ****.

Everybody that is gonna preach to you about driving too fast must have missed the "how fast has everyone had their car up to?" thread in New Ls1 enthusiasts. Most of us have been over 125 more than a few times, myself included. If you gotta do 150, do it on a better road, alone.

as I mentioned above...the insurance company wants $5,000 to buy it back. Seemed a little steep to me...but I don't want to loose the $2,500 in mods I just dropped into it. I'd be losing those, and stuck with the stock stuff.

Buy it back. Its worth it then find a stolen/recoverd carcass and put the good stuff back together...you'll really learn alot about these cars. I just bought a wrecked 2000 SS Camaro (5000.00)and a S/R 98 z body (2000.00)both black off from E bay and put them together to make one smooth low dollar unit. Now I have alot of extra parts to use if I break anything.

I wouldn't even bother with that car.....buy something else

You might consider some type of mental evaluation....I think there are some super hero tendencies there for you to survive something like that. I can't believe neither of you were decapitated or ended up with broken necks. You were definitely being watched over from above that night.

Thats totally fixable! I fixed a 97 convt That was 10 times worse than that the LT1 was resting in the passanger floor.Entire right rail was cut and replaced. What do you guys think off frame resoration is for the old cars? You take them down to nothing and re weld and build back to new. A good body shop can align the frame within .001 of an inch to factor specs. Cut out you quarter panel weld in new cut out top of car reframe window weld in T bar top ( factory top is welded so your only replacing) Check uni-body and repaint entire car. When repaird properly (by federal laws) The car has to meet or exceed federal car safety rules. Since it was totaled, the state its repaired in the DMV takes it for a day and inspects the car. They measure the frame angles and structure integrity. But like I said thats a cake job the insurance totaled it because idamage is more than half of the cars value. My shop could fix it If you like We can pick it up.

Austin Check your PM's.

Im in the middle of stripping a complete non-salvaged 90% perfect 02 WS6. It has no interior/motor/tranny/hatch/taillights etc. The car is black and doesnt have a scratch on the paint anywhere (20k on the car) except for the front fenders are missing and front bumper is gone. My friend rearended someone at a slow speed, did about 2k in damage (front headlight assembly's, fenders, ws6 hood and paint) and he is a rice kid that basically sold me the car for nothing because he wouldnt own a "wrecked car". Swap everything from your car into this thing and youll have almost NO money in replacing your car.

First off... this is why I only top out on roads im 110% familiar with and have no dips, bumps, etc.. as someone who has hit ~170mph ONCE and been over 150 several times... in the past (doubt i will be doing it in the future)... its a scary event and I think a pea on the road could upset the tires. Anyone else get the pucker feeling? EEK!

Anyways..no way would I buy that car back. After being through such a violent thing such as a rollover It would dishonest to attempt to sell whats left of that motor. Its not like getting rearended and selling off the motor and trans..they took a beating ..regardless of it you can tell or not. For the money and the risk of having a non resellable engine/trans combo...its just not worth it IMHO.

You should suspend your own license after endangering your friend's life like that.

Wow, I just found this today. Like everyone said, I hope you learned a lesson. Since the pics are kind of blurry and small, I looked at the first two and thought the damage wasn't too bad...then I saw the rest of the pictures. On one positive note, it looks like the car did a damn good job of protecting you and your friend. Best of luck to you.

you have no idea how lucky you are. my buddy lost it in an 89 chevy that we just finished building and hit a concrete guardrail going pretty fast. how fast?? well the msd billet distributer was pushing the buttons on the dome light and the battery landed over a block away...thats how fast. 3 people were in that truck and there's only 2 still around. i would suggest burying the car and thanking your lucky stars every day that they diddnt haul you away from there in about 12 zip locks.

Anything is fixable just about I have fixed some amazingly F/U vehicles, but if you are not doing the work yourself or don't know how I would not trust anyone to do it for me just like the one guy said I wouldn't feel safe not knowing how they put it together etc...

I am sure he didn't start rolling at 150mph. Or he would be dead for sure.

In the story it sounds like he was riding it out for awhile. And at the end, the dirt caught the tires and flipped it. Probably going about 35-60mph or so. Maybe slower.
