Default How to remove that 1/4 triangle??

Can anyone tell me how to remove the trim triangle behind the door glass on the 1/4 panel??

This is the piece that mimics the door belt molding in flat black on the lower part and is painted black.

I am painting my car and want to remove it to do a better job.

There is no opening behind it. I suspect it is glued on???

Thanks!!!

I believe he means the small piece at the top of the rear quarter panel, between the roof pillar and the door glass...

Yes, That piece. It is called an applique. I think is is glued on and may break if I pry it off. A new one is less than $10 so I may buy new ones before I break these.

Anyone done this???

I pulled my old ones off due to some wetsanding scratching the bottom trim. They are held on by moderately tough double-sided tape... I was able to pull them off without breaking them, but I wouldn't count on being able to put it back on because they're plastic and can bend and show creases. New ones are dirt cheap, might as well replace them.

Mine are ugly as hell... well I'm overexagerating but do they come painted already when bought new ? How do you go around to replacing them... just pull like a madman on them and then stick the new ones on?

Mine were looking ugly so I wanted to pull mine off too. I was too lazy to do it. I ended up covering them in carbon fiber. I still want them back to black so I'll buy new ones

I always wondered why the hell these cars were designed like that. Looks like such a cheap afterthought...hmmm the door glass doesn't meet the roof pillar....let's put some cheap plastic that will fade and scratch easily there to fill it in! I almost took one of mine off by accident when the cleaning rag got cought on the corner of it

You need to peel them off from the BACK => FORWARD. You will have to be very carefuly not to ruin the roof pillar's paint. One side is $8 and the other is $12.

Do any of you who have replaced that applique have any links you could share? Having a hard time finding replacements for mine. Painting the car and want to take them off but don't want to until I know where to find replacements. Thanks!

This thread is nearly old enough to drink legally. I doubt anyone has new ones of these anymore. But you can check Classic Industries and Hawks Performance, both of whom supply resto parts for F-bodies. Hawks is more likely to have them, though. Especially used.

I actually managed to find them on ebay shortly after posting. Definitely not $10 anymore as GM has discontinued the part, but I found them. Thank you!
