Out of Zaino, need new supplies, suggestions?
I've used up all of my Zaino and figured I might give some other stuff a try. I need a claybar, car wash, and whatever type of paint stuff I need (polish, wax, etc). I'm thinking of just going local and picking up some Meguiars stuff like their Gold Class wash, Color X, and some NXT along with a Clay Magic claybar. I'm doing this all by hand but have been contemplating buying one of those electric buffers from Walmart as well (I know its nowhere near the best, but I figure it would be better than by hand). My car isn't a show car and I dont want to spend a ton of money, as it already has tons of spider-web type scratches in it anyways, but if I could get it looking better that is always a plus. Thanks for any suggestions and I'm open to pretty much anything that will get my car looking better.

Mother's has a whole new line that is supposed to be pretty good.
If I were buying locally only, I would get a Clay Magic claybar, NXT car wash, Meguiar's ScratchX or ColorX, Mother's Reflections wax, and Mother's Showtime Instant Detailer.
I wouldn't even waste money on a cheap buffer...save up for a Porter Cable ($100).

3m stuff is good but you have a hard time findin the 16 oz bottles. If your going with OTC products id get a swirl remover like Megs9, then the glaze 7, then the NXT. Sometimes you can find a paint and body store that carries meguiars 80 id substitute that 7 for the 80. Still do the 9 if you havent ever removed swirls from your finish before.

Lumping all buffers into one group is like saying all GM vechicles are the same. Kinda silly.

the porter cable is no doubt a great maching and you can do amazing things with it. I personally feel that working with a rotory gives me better results.
Call me crazy i guess

I have seen many p-jobs f-up b/c of high-speed detailing. Let the buffer do all the work. Personally, I don't buff unless a total strip is in order. Usually only once over a 5-6 period. Just my own thoughts and version of detailing.
Others will argue, but this whole "detailing" issue is subjective.
Good luck

Most cheaper buffers only have one speed..."ON."
As long as it's an orbital buffer, it's nearly impossible to burn the paint. They just don't generate the required heat. There isn't really anything subjective about that.
