Isn't it etched into the glass or something?

Just get "Objects in mirror are about to disappear" etched into your driver's side mirror!

Shouldn't you be able to polish the words out of the glass or will it only cause it to look like ****? If so, how do you do it?

Yeah it will just look like ****. The wording is cut into the glass, so polishing wont do any good. I want to do away with mine to.

If you have a glass shop cut you a new piece (or do it yourself), it probably wouldn't apply anyway - it is there because the passenger side mirror is slightly curved, and they'd just use regular mirror. The fitment isn't usually as good as stock, though, so I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you need a replacement.
