Cleaned engine bay....finally!!
Since being on this forum for the last couple of months and seeing the fabulous job that others have done with there engine, I could no longer stand it. And to be honest, I didn't think the engine would come clean after that many miles, the dirt, salt, and grime.
So since it was raining, I decided to work on the compartment for the day. I was rather astounded by the results. See the pics below for the before and after. And please all...don't beat me up to bad because of the before. After seeing how the engine looks now, I will never let it get in that condition again. Thanks to all who make their engines look good for the inspiration, and shaming me into finally doing something about it. Next is the wire mod to get rid of all those wires.

Nice job! Now let's keep it that way, or you'll be in trouble mister!
I work in Indy. What part of town are you on?

To answer others, I looked around on here and did some of the same methods, but there was very little hand work involved. Really only some places around the block and some teh places around the wiring and the computer.
Look at the first post in this thread.

I bought the Gunk Foamy Engine Brite and CD2 detailer. Awesom stuff!! I had two apply the Gunk engine cleaner twice today because of how bad I had let it get. Then once it dried, I just applied the engine detailer according to the directions on the can. I don't have to try and sell the stuff, I think the pictures speak for themselves.
I will never let the engine get that bad again. And I am sure it will be even easier to clean the next time.
Looks new..congrats!
What did ya use?
As much as I want to keep it nice, something about that just doesn't sit right with me. You don't end up with water in places it shouldn't be, or rust in all the little nooks and crannies that you can't hand dry like you can nice open body panels? I had to do the process twice since it was in bad shape. Took about 4 hours total.
