Default didnt get all the swirl marks

it was a nice day out yesturday so i decided to clean up the car. so i first washed it and then claybar it. then washed it again. then i used the Menzerna intense polish with the porter cable and the yellow pad. buffed out the residue and then used Menzerna final polish 2 with another pad, then i applied meguires wax with the red pad. it seems like there is still swirl marks left. i dont understand what i did wrong, did u use too much product or did it too fast. the color of my car is red so u can see the swirls in the daylight. im not saying it didnt help, it took most of the marks out but there is some left. what should i do now. should i wait a little and do it over again?

Sometimes you have to make mutliple passes and take your time. Always check your work before moving on to the next step.

zane, what would you use for something a little harsher than the IP?
I have a few scuffs from passerbys that the IP and an orange pad will not get out, although not completely through the clear.

People say that SSR 2.5 is stronger than IP, but I haven't found that to be true in my use. I've really never used anything stronger...haven't needed to.

You might try some 3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound.

if your using the CMA yellow pad then it can be caused by the yellow pad. Try goin orange/ip then, white pad/ip/ whitepad/FPII. the marring your are seeing is being caused by not working the product in long enough or by using to aggressive of a pad. the next aggressive thing you can use is probably going to be 3m rubbing compound but that may leave a haze and serious micromarring on the finish. Then you will have to use 1 more step to remove the hazing then move on from there.

Just did the Menzerna treatment to my car,(black) went with IP with a Sonus green pad, didn't get all the swirls out so I used the orange pad, that did it. You may have to do it more than once, but the results are definately worth it, click on the attachment to see the results on the door

did you do FP b/f the pic? either way its looking good.
try to get a nice angle shot too.

and wash the car, then wipe with 50/50 alky/water and that should remove old wax, or any amount of polishing will remove it too...

I'd wash the car again, not to remove the wax per se, but to get the dirt/dust/bugs/etc off, or you'll just be putting more swirls in the paint because the dust/dirt will act as an abrasive.
Wash it, hit it with the IP on an orange pad (PC speed 4-4.5) wipe off any residue with a 50 50 alcohol water mix and see if the swirls are gone, then use the FP2 on a blue pad wipe down the whole car with the alc water mix inspect the finish (and if satisfied) and top with your favorite wax/sealant
Mine's a DD so it'll never be perfect, but I got rid of 90% of the swirls with the above process
Good luck

For stubborn stuff, I use IP with an orange pad on speed 6. Work slowly until the polish begins to turn clear.

I use a 5" counterweight with a 5" backing plate and 6.5" pads. No excessive vibrations.

I stay away from the yellow pad if possible...typically stay with orange and white pads. I never apply wax or sealants with the PC.
