Bubbling Roof

Bubbling Roof
A few people have asked me if I ever checked into getting my roof fixed on my Camaro. I finally went to the dealership today to see what they would say. Basically, they said it was a factory defect and the warranty would cover it. BUT, my car only has 8500 miles on it and it is a 2001. I do not know how it will apply to each individual. They never asked me the year of the car, and they said that they will fix it. Anything over 3 years should not be covered, right? I am not going to ask, but good luck if you have the same bubbling problem.

Glad to hear you're getting it repaired as warranty work. Mine isn't bubbling (yet), but I've read way too many posts about others with this problem. It makes me kind of nervous....

It's supposed to be related to the glue they used to bond the roof panel on. They are supposed to strip the paint and glue and then use a new style glue to bond it on, then repaint. Otherwise it will just bubble up again. There's a technical service bulletin on the problem somewhere. If I remember right, GM has a 100K mile warranty on body defects or something. Don't qoute me, but that is what I remember.
There have been several threads on this in the past, try a search.
BTW, I have about 30 tiny bubbles in my T-top roof panel on the top and sides. I'm more worried about leaving my car overnight at a body shop than the bubbles. I might look into gtting them fixed soon, though.

Some dealers can be ******, especially the one I bought my car from. I was told to call GM service by the Service manager. He said he doesn't care about a TSB, thats for techs. There were 4 other F bodies I know of done there within the past year, all 98 & 99s and out of warranty. Goodluck, I am going to try the two other dealers in the area.

I'm working with pontiac service line right now about this. I've been calling my stealership for a year now and he keeps saying, "well I forgot to ask my GM rep. about it" so i got tired of messing with him and called pontiac service and they are doing my bidding now. I'll let you know how it turns out. 99 Pontiac 52,000

http://www.autosafety.org/autodefects/GM-Paint.htm this website says gm changed the paint warranty to 5 years unlimited mileage in 1995.

in my opinion the company only gives each department; sales, warranty, service, ect; an alotment of money and they (warranty department) would rather use it for newer vehicles that are still under drivetrain warranty.
