Default finally put the porter cable and acc to work. pics too!

well i bought the pc 7424 and sonus SFX1-3 and the sonus pads, along with some other goodies. yesterday it was nice outside so i thought i would go to town on the car and see what i could get it to look like. it has 56k on it and isnt in perfect shape but it isnt bad. also the person that had it befor eme had it buffed and they left swirl marks all over it...but here is a link of how it looks now. i am pretty impressed, and my girlfriend says..."it looks shiny"

http://community.webshots.com/user/bns96gt

well tell me what you think. i also ordered the CME exhaust tips and valence. it is the one piece valence and the dual tips. i cant wait. i need rims too but i dont want to pay for them there is a link of what the rims are doing. do you think GM will cover that under the paint warranty or something that is BS.

Thanks
Louie

A little off topic, but can the PC also be used as a sander? I really need a sander, but I would like to get one that can be used as a polisher too.

yes it can be used as a sander....but I would be fearful of getting the PC dirty and having it get on my pads while I am polishing....I'm also a little paranoid about that stuff

Looks good. My car and yours are very similar. I'm getting a PC buffer in the next few weeks. Sounds like the way to go. Any tips for a first time user? What polishes did you use?

Those f'n SLP chrome 10 spoke wheels suck dony't they? I posted about 5 times on LS1.com about the pitting/flaking issues. People all over the country have the same problem. No chance of anyone fixing it for you either. If you really like the wheels, I've found places that might rechrome them but I'm not sure how much it costs. I'll probably sell mine as they are and get what ever I can for em and then get some nice TT2's.

They are several brand to choose from. I use the Menzerna polishes and they have worked fantastic on my black car. I also used them on my friend Dakota truck that was just repainted and have very bad swirl marks and the Menzerna and PC worked great to get rid nearly all of them.

yeah the only polishes, waxes that i used this time was the sonus SFX series along with the the sonus pads. i bought a kit that included the backing plate, the pads, and a bonnet(i didnt use it) it wa like 50 bux. then i bought the three sonus bottles at like 13bux a piece. after looking at the car yesterday and today it is notieceably better looking, not perfect, but 100% better. definately worth it in my opinion. as fas is suggestions if i could go back i would have taken an extra hour and clayed the whole car two times. maybe just for me in my head but that is it.

here is what i did and i also followed the very helpful sticky on this site.

i washed the car,
i used a clay bar on the whole car,
then i washed teh car again,
i dried the car thoroughly with a microfiber drying towel,
i let the car sit outside and i vacuumed the interior, and conditioned the leather, cleaned the dash, put protectant on the dash, etc. then i redired everything and started the buffing process.
i used the sonus sfx1 and corresponding pad and i did one section of the car at a time. half of the hood, other half, front fender, door, rear fender, trunck, bumper, etc.

just take your time read the sticky and you will be in excellent shape, definatly worth the 8 hours i spent!

Thanks for the comments
Louie

ps oh yeah my CME tips came in today! i cant wait for the valence to come in and have it painted and installed, iw ill be sure to get teh pics up in about a week or so when it is on.
